Cadet Program Directors Message

April 2020

Despite the hardships COVID-19 is throwing at all of us, it brings joy to my heart every time I get to see cadets adapting to the virtual meeting format and providing our members with well-rounded training. April 4th marked the first virtual cadet-led Wing activity, with over 50 participants. It truly showed that despite the circumstances, our cadets are still wanting to better themselves and others. We are currently working on coordinating short bi-weekly training activities to be hosted by the Cadet Power Team along with a virtual Wing activity for May and June. More details on those activities will be released as we finalize the components.

As for Encampment, we have rescheduled to December 27, 2020 - January 3, 2021. Planning and position selection are still taking place, and cadets who applied will be notified by the Cadet Group Commander in the near future of their selection. Encampment will still be taking place on the Big Island of Hawaii at Kilauea Military Camp.

Be sure to keep up with your emails and the Hawaii Wing Cadets Facebook page to see all of the great opportunities you are being offered.

1st Quarter, 2020

Cadets Programs had a busy 2019 starting off with Cadet Competition. Hawaii Wing was represented at the Pacific Region Cadet Competition by cadets from the Big Island. The learning experience was fantastic and resulted in lifetime friendships. Then the continuing monthly training in leadership in Officer Basic Training following the NCO Training School. The summer was welcomed in with the 2019 4th Cadet Training Group Encampment.  The encampment taught leadership style and life skills to a group of 95 cadets and senior members. The end of 2019 featured the Hawaii Wing Conference, during which more leadership and team building exercises ended the year.

The schedule for 2020 is full of learning opportunities with each activity focused on leadership training, aerospace, and of course, some fun.  The first major activity will be the Cadet Competition being held in February. The winners will be attending the Pacific Region Cadet Competition held in Anchorage, Alaska. The Cadet Program will continue toward the big push for encampment being held at Kilauea Military Camp on the Big Island.

Cadet Programs wants to thank everyone for their support in volunteering and donations to continue this journey.  The cadets take these skills and friendships into adulthood.
