1.  The following information has been provided to me by Col. Stanley Fernandez.

Kaimuki CAP Squadron - 1953-1956

  • Squadron Commander - Major Nicholas Smythe
  • Deputy Commander for Cadets - Capt. Mildred Okamura
  • Cadet Activities Officer - 1st Lt. Pacheco
  • Communications Officer - 1sLt Lt. Charlie Sylvester
  • Cadet Commander - till 1954 - C/LtCol Francis Gomes (Became the 3rd Wing Commander)
  • Cadet Commander - After 1954 - C/LtCol Oren Hood (Became the Wing Commander)
  • Location of Squadron:  Ocean entry side of the Fort Ruger.
  • Training Building - class room with offices for DCC and Cadet Officers
  • Operations Building – housed stripped Cessna with actual engine to train on, link trainer and communications room. Also room for Squadron Commander, Ops officer etc.
  • One Carry All - assigned for Land Rescue Purposes. Squadron possessed two search teams.

 There were other squadrons:

  • Farrington Squadron - Commanded by Major Allen Mokuau.  Squadron Location:  Old OR&L facility near the Ala Park, Honolulu.
  • Hickam Squadron
  • Wheeler Squadron
  • Maryknoll Squadron
  • Ewa Squadron   - Commanded by Captain Bolos, Cadet Commander: C/Major Melvin Bolos
  • Waianae Squadron
  • Bellows Squadron - Check LtCol Bev Scoggins for this information (her mom was in this unit.
  • Kaneohe Squadron
  • Hoolehua Squadron (Molokai) - Captain Henry Cup Choy
  • Kaunakakai Squadron (Molokai)
  • Maui had two squadrons
  • Kauai had two squadrons
  • Big Island - two squadrons
  • State Legislature Squadron

There were two other squadrons, I cannot remember them.
The Wing Commander then was Colonel Ben Dillingham.
